The advanced e:HEV powertrain has three autonomous drive systems that deliver performance and economy: electric drive for silent, instant power; hybrid drive for sporty responsiveness and long-range potential; and engine drive for sustained, higher-speed cruising.

The Prelude is self-charging, using a combination of two electric motors, a petrol engine and a regenerative braking system to top-up the EV battery on the go with no need to plug-in.
